I always feel excited to see how portraits turn out. They feel more intimate and personal, which I think gives you a unique chance to see yourself in a new way. I love noticing each photographers' personal touch and unique style that gets incorporated into each photo shoot and final images. Definitely an empowering feeling!

Seeing myself in a portrait feels like meeting one version of me and realizing there are countless others waiting to be explored.

As someone who is camera shy, seeing myself in a portrait lets me view myself from a different perspective. it's like seeing a version of me that I don't always notice in everyday life.

To see myself in a portrait is like—damn, this is what I look like? It’s that moment of realizing I’m a work of art, too. As a creative, I’m so used to making art that I sometimes forget I am art. In this age of content and constant production, it’s easy to feel like our value lies only in what we create, what we post, or what people can see. But the truth is, the art exists in simply being. beyond that, there’s life—real life—with all its heartbreaks, growth, and lessons. Yet when I look at my portrait, I don’t see the pain or the struggle. I see someone who’s lived through it, who carries all of that quietly beneath the surface. That’s why it hits me so hard—it’s a reminder that I don’t just create beauty; I am it.
“What does it feel like to see yourself in a portrait?” is a photo series I created. After each session, I invited each person to share their genuine reaction to seeing their portraits, turning that moment into their narrative. I wanted to move beyond just taking a few portraits and instead capture each person’s personality authentically, then witness their raw response to the images themselves. Seeing those positive reactions always inspires me. There’s something beautiful about being captured in a portrait that truly reflects who we are at our core.
