Multifarious is a self-portrait series capturing the range of emotions I experienced this year. The word "multifarious" means having many different sides or qualities. This describes my early struggles with sadness and uncertainty in the first half of the year as I navigated my career, moved into a new home and faced the unknown as a creative. In the second half, I felt more settled and content after these transitions, experiencing happiness and a sense of peace. This series reflects the layered complexity of my emotions as a Black woman and my art allows me to express those feelings openly.
Inspired by my earlier work, lost. in. thought.,which explored my previous tendency to overthink and anxiety. I created visuals using vibrant colors and lighting to convey what those emotions felt like. Sharing my raw feelings through this work publicly was initially scary, but the positive feedback encouraged me to embrace and express them fully both behind and in front of the camera.
